Hunisha and Navin Patel faced the top
athletes from 25 countries, over 3 days at the World
Championships.
In the Kata events under 15 female, Hunisha faced intense
competition from the best from Iran, Turkey, Croatia, Czech
Republic, Italy and more in an event that lasted 2 1/2 hours.
She emerged as World Kata Champion 2006 Gold Medallist.
What a stunning acheivement.
On Saturday, Navin competed in the boys under 15 Kata for the
first time ever and came away with the Silver Medal
- a fantastic result, well done Navin!
Sunday was the turn of free fighting. Once again Hunisha came up
against the best the world has to offer and the fighting was
fierce and competitive. Hunisha used her focus and determination
to walk away with yet another Gold Medal - World Free
Fighting Champion 2006 Gold - the most
amazing result!
To add to this, Hunisha was drafted into the team event when the
captain was unable to compete. Fire still burning, she led the
team to another Gold medal.
For her achievements, Hunisha was also awarded Honorary
Award of Merit for Top Competitor of the Championships.
Navin was on again next, this time in his free fighting
category, the boys under 15. Navin had never fought at this high
level before but equalled his previous days performance by
taking the World Championship Silver Medal. His
fabulous performance has given him a place in British Elite
squad!
Everyone at Ashindo-Kai is very proud of Hunisha and Navin and
between them they encapsulate the Ashin-do Kai ethos of focus,
power, dedication and determination.
